There is a sense of major achievement in a profession when a person or organization has reached the purpose of potency in it, the point of productiveness, the point where skills begins to tell and bring in returns. Here's a similar bottom-up account of the Philipps's family efficiently serving valuable fishing adventures at Guatemala. Over the decades there is storing up a vast reserve of knowledge of detail, laying foundations, forming acquaintances, gaining a reputation for truthfulness, trustworthiness, and integrity, and in establishing our credit as one of the best fishing adventures.
Here’s an account on how the Philipps family rolled over the years and successfully attempted to build up a complete package of recreational fishing at Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures.
Meet a the highly respected Capt. Brad Philipps with his ever supportive wife Cindy who continues to render self-mastery at the Charter fishing Billfishing world.
Captain Brad Philipps is one of the sportfishing world’s most decorated Captains
The present age of adventure calls, not for educated men simply, not for geniuses, not for jack-of-all-trades, but for men who are trained to do one thing as well as it can be done. Our Capt. has a complete mastery in his profession that will render even the driest details interesting. Despite having released more than 38,000 billfish in his lengthy career — more than any other sport-fishing captain, past or present — Capt. Brad Philipps is just as excited about the next bite as any neophyte angler.
He is a recipient of The Billfish Foundation's Top Overall Release Captain award 16 times, with an equal number of Top Pacific Sailfish Captain honors. His best days include: 91 sailfish releases on conventional tackle; 73 releases for an individual angler; 51 releases for a single angler on fly; and 3,671 billfish releases in one season. He operates Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures with his wife Cindy, kids Darren and Lyndsey and a Staffordshire bull terrier named Rigby at his side. Philipps is just as comfortable at the helm of his 40-foot Gamefisherman, Decisive, in the vast Pacific Ocean, as he is fishing distant locales like Cape Verde, Bom Bom Island, Novia Scotia or he is on a wildlife safari in his native Africa. Because it is a deep-rooted sense of adventure that drives him to success — no matter the conditions or the odds.
Seamanship and adventure fishing had started to program in Capt. Brad’s life doing beach launches during his growing up years back in South Africa an uncompromising attention to detail as a boatsmen. After undergoing two years of compulsive military service, after which he graduted from the University of Cape Town with an Honors Degree & later spent several years fishing around the world. Hehas nearly circumnavigated the globe on his way to releasing more than 38,000 billfish. Thus setting out with purpose at an early age into the seas, he had a chance meeting with Tim Choate in Bom Bom in 1996 and spent a season running a boat for Tim in Brazil. Later Tim, offered Brad a job in Guatemala where he worked as a fleet captain for the Fins & Feathers Lodge.
The Captain rightly quotes it as “We cannot buy experience – we have to dedicate time & efforts to earn it ourselves”
The lodge closed in 2006. However, Brad & his wife Cindy remained undaunted and this led them to start with Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures to fill the void for those clients who still wanted to experience the excellent fishing the country has to offer. From then they went on to find a perfect wave and still continue to build a bond with colorful local & global personalities by hosting the best family fishing trips. Capt. Brad and his wife Cindy Philipps have years of International experience, from providing to the needs of sports fishing anglers at their Fishing Lodges making Guatemala fishing experience as the best. Nobody on the planet has released more sailfish and marlin. They continue their participation in the release ethos of bill-fishing, and also the protection of the species. While not fishing, Brad spends his time guiding clients on safari across the African continent. He spends 4 months every year back in Africa with Cindy and their two children, Darren and Lyndsey.
Capt. Brad Philipps personally delights going back over the whole line again and again until his clients see with his eyes, understand his line of thinking & feel his sensations with respect to Billfishing adventures sports, thus providing everyone with a seamless experience.
