The fishing the past few weeks has been very steady, with both good numbers of blue marlin and sailfish around. With as many as 40 plus sailfish bites and 4 or more blues up in a day! If you missed out on 1st issue this November then you can find it out here. Anglers from far a wide travelled to fish with in Guatemala, New Zealanders, Australians, Father and Sons, young and old.
Most importantly, the blue water and fish are pushing inshore. Boats found good numbers of sailfish and blue marlin in the bottom of the pocket at 10miles.

Team of two anglers Brian Luecke & Dr. Rex Pyne from Australia & NZ respectively booked 6 days of fishing with Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures. Aboard the Decisive with Capt. Brad Philipps they were on the fish swiftly and the action never stopped. They got 21 Sailfish releases and a 500 plus blue on their first day & 20 more sails the following day.
Dr. Rex Pyne & Brian Luecke went 1 from 2 on blue marlin with 9 sailfish releases on the third day & went on to release another 400 pound blue while also raising another nice one together going 18 from 30 bites on sailfish on the following day.
Their last day saw them going 22 from 40 sails.
We also had Capt. Alex Holden of ‘Constellation’ fame from Costa Rica riding with us to get some first-hand knowledge of our remarkable fishery.
They summed up an extraordinary & happy total of 100 Billfish releases in 6 days. We also got to capture non-stop action and adventure & exuberant beauty of the vast Pacific on this fleet.
After fishing, they went to explore Lake Atitlan and the Mayan Ruins adding 3 more nights of adventures.
Scott Henley and his son Jacob with Brother Chris – Got in for Pre-Thanksgiving (24th to 26th Nov)
A family squad of father-son duo & brother headed to us for an amazing 3-day adventure booked 3 days of fishing on 24th, 25th & 26th November with Capt. Been really busy since getting back from the Miami Boat show last weekend, but thank you to The Billfish Foundation for all they do for Billfish Conservation, everyone that fishes offshore should really join their cause and become a member! Won their Overall Release Captain of the Year Award, my 16th time in the past 17 years to receive this award. Catching up with so many friends sure was great!
Fishing has been great! Raised 48 sails and a blue marlin yesterday, releasing 15 sails the last day of the Jake Jordan Fly Challenge to place a very well deserved second place. Usually placing second is like 'kissing your sister', but fly-fishing with only a single angler, against other two angler teams, sure made it tuff to take advantage of the multiples we saw...well done to all, great fishing with some spectacular action! We are having one heck of a season!
As he closes in on 30,000 Billfish releases, this top captain has learned what it takes to be the best in the game.
