From airport pickup and your private Pacific base to fishing aboard Decisive and an optional Antigua extension, the trip is built around the fishing.
Once your flights are booked, we coordinate the moving parts around the fishing — your airport transfer, Pacific-coast stay, fishing days and optional Antigua extension.
Fly into Guatemala City and share your flight details with us before arrival. We coordinate your private ground transfer from the airport to Guatemala’s Pacific coast, so once you land, the logistics are already in place.
Your Pacific base is Billfish Inn. Arrive, unpack and settle in. Depending on your arrival time, that may mean drinks and snacks by the pool, dinner with your group and an easy evening before the first morning offshore.
The fishing is the reason the trip is built this way. Your group fishes privately aboard the 40-foot Gamefisherman Decisive, with the GBA crew, tackle and daily preparation organized around the opportunities offshore.
After fishing, return to Billfish Inn for the pool, drinks, dinner and time with your group. The idea is simple: very little moving around and more time focused on the fishing and the people you came with.
For guests who want to see more of Guatemala, continue to Casa Philipps in Antigua after the fishing. It creates a natural second chapter to the trip before returning to Guatemala City for your flight home.
Private fishing. Private hospitality. One coordinated itinerary.
Three days is the classic sweet spot.
The right number of days depends on how far you are travelling, how much time you have and how much opportunity you want offshore. For most guests, three fishing days gives the trip its natural rhythm.
Two fishing days can work well when time is limited, when Guatemala is part of a longer itinerary, or for returning guests looking for a shorter trip. It keeps the experience compact while still giving you two full days aboard Decisive.
For most guests, three fishing days is the ideal balance. It gives you enough time to settle into the rhythm of the fishery, adjust from one day to the next and enjoy the trip without making the itinerary unnecessarily long.
If Guatemala is one of your major fishing trips of the year, four or more days gives you more opportunity to experience changing conditions, different bite windows and everything the Pacific fishery can produce.
Not sure which is right for your group? We can help you build the trip around your time.
As you plan your next billfishing trip with Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures, here’s a quick primer on travel and arrivals. It’s simple, seamless, and built for anglers.
Guatemala City (La Aurora International) is served by multiple major airlines with frequent nonstops from U.S. hubs such as Miami and Houston, plus convenient connections from most cities. U.S. passport holders typically do not require a visa for short stays. Guests traveling on other passports should check current entry requirements before departure.
After you clear customs, our full-time driver Diego Raymundo will meet you at the arrivals area, holding a sign with your name. He’ll be wearing a short-sleeve shirt with the Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures embroidered logo on the left chest. A courtesy phone is available if needed.
Once you’re in the vehicle, Diego notifies the Billfish Inn that you’ve arrived and that all luggage is accounted for, then again as you approach the coast so our team is ready to welcome you. The scenic drive (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes) descends from the highlands to the Pacific through volcano-framed country — refreshments on board.
We coordinate door-to-dock logistics so your arrival is effortless. Prefer to review options? See our dedicated page: In-House Ground or Air Transfers .
For most of our anglers, the sweet spot is three full days of fishing. This allows enough time to maximize your trip’s potential while keeping your schedule practical. Over this span, you’ll often experience at least one hot day — 20+ sailfish releases — without stretching your time or budget.
With the relatively low travel cost from most major U.S. cities, many clients book two shorter trips per year instead of one long one — increasing their chances of hitting those truly massive days. But if this is your only Guatemalan trip for the year (or foreseeable future), we recommend 4 or more full days for an action-packed adventure.
Most parties arrive in Guatemala City the afternoon or early evening before their first fishing day. Our driver will meet you at the airport, assist with your luggage, and bring you down to the lodge.
Spend your first evening enjoying the Billfish Inn comforts, then wake refreshed for a hearty breakfast and a full day on the water.
